Job Description
  Basic Purpose
  The Chemical Sciences and Engineering Division has a post-doctoral position available in the newly-created Energy Frontier Research Center on Electrical Energy Storage at Argonne National Laboratory (lead institution) funded by the Department of Energy's Office of Basic Energy Sciences. The thrust of the Center, which is comprised of four Divisions (Chemical Sciences and Engineering, Materials Science, Energy Systems, and the Center for Nanoscale Materials, will focus on the research of electrified interfaces in energy storage systems, notably lithium batteries, with collaborating institutions at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Northwestern University. A degree in organic chemistry at the Ph.D. degree level with 0-3 years of experience is essential. A background in lithium battery technology would be an advantage. Expertise in electrochemical studies and analysis of organic electrolyte solvents and functional additives, including passivation-, overcharge protection-, wetting-, and flame-retardant agents is required.
