Argonne National Laboratory`s Photon Sciences Associate Laboratory Director (ALD) is seeking a world-renowned expert in the field of life sciences. The selected candidate will function as a senior level advisor to the Photon Sciences ALD and in an advocacy capacity for the life sciences community at the Advanced Photon Source (APS). The selected candidate will be afforded the opportunity and flexibility to conduct independent research, if so desired, which may include the potential for a joint appointment (percentage of time devoted to independent life sciences research will be negotiated on a case-by-case basis).
This position will function as a liason between APS management and the life sciences community at the APS. The successful candidate will represent the life sciences community relative to Photon Sciences policies, procedures, allocation of shared resources, etc. while also providing the ALD with a clear understanding of the challenges and needs of the life sciences community at the APS. The overall goal is to eliminate any and all barriers, to establish a vehicle for productive communications, to develop workable solutions as issues present themselves, and to promote, foster, and stimulate world-class achievements in the field of life sciences at the APS.
The position has been designated as an Argonne Distinguished Fellow, the highest scientific classification at Argonne. The selected candidate for hire at this level will be subject to approval by the Laboratory Director`s Oversight Committee for Hires and Promotions (LDOC-HP) peer review requiring preparation and submission of a comprehensive case package. Interested candidates must apply for this position through the on-line process, however, they are also encouraged to personally contact the APS Deputy Director for X-ray Science, Dr. Dennis Mills directly via e-mail (dmm@aps.anl.gov) or by phone (630-252-5680) to further discuss the position. |
