Job Description
  Basic Purpose
  Contribute to improving the understanding of the effect of heterogeneity on thermal, chemical, and mechanical properties of materials for energy applications, especially nuclear fuels and reactor materials.
   
  Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  Considerable
Knowledge, interest, and experience with multi-scale methods such as Density Functional Theory, Molecular Dynamics, Monte Carlo, Phase Field, Finite Element and Calphad. Computational skills and experience with high-performance computing, data analysis, and multi-scale coupling. Understanding and interest in materials for energy applications, especially nuclear fuels and reactor materials.
  Good
Experience with experimental validation of models and simulations. Record of research accomplishments and impact as demonstrated by scientific publications and presentations. Skills in written and oral communication in English.
  Other
The required levels of knowledge and skills are typically achieved through formal training in mathematics, physics, chemistry, materials science, computational science, nuclear engineering or associated field(s) on the Ph.D. (or equivalent) level with strong emphasis on materials for energy applications.
