Basic Purpose |
| |
Contribute to the understanding and advancement of basic theoretical nuclear and/or computational physics by conceiving and executing theoretical research projects, and reporting the results. |

Knowledge, Skills and Experience |
| |
Considerable Considerable knowledge of some important area of theoretical nuclear physics of interest to the Division.
Considerable skill in mathematics, computational methods and techniques needed for Argonne programs, understanding scientific concepts and synthesizing results, written and oral communication. |

Good Good knowledge of additional areas of nuclear physics. Good skill in interacting with colleagues. |

Some Some knowledge of other fields of physics. |

Other This level of knowledge and skill is typically achieved through attainment of a Ph.D. in physics plus 2-3 years of post-doctoral experience. Also required are demonstrated motivation, energy, and ability to originate, carry out, and publish significant original research.
This level of knowledge, skill, experience and responsibility is comparable to that of assistant professor at a major university or leading engineering institution with a strong reputation in the sciences. |

Minimum Education/Experience Requirements Ph.D. and 0-1 year experience/equivalent.
Master's Degree and 2-3 years of experience/equivalent.
Bachelor's Degree and 6-8 years experience/equivalent. |
