Basic Purpose |
| |
Design, specify, commission, and analyze accelerator beam diagnostic subsystems for the Advanced Photon Source facility; direct development of major diagnostic system deployments. Principal responsibility as scientist directing the development of diagnostic instrumentation supporting the APS upgrade, with heavy involvement in the realtime orbit feedback system upgrade. Develop and implement new detectors, techniques and algorithms for APS diagnostics. Provide direction and coordination to divisional specialty groups. Support machine operation as linac advisor. |

Knowledge, Skills and Experience |
| |
Comprehensive Comprehensive knowledge of high-energy particle beam diagnostic and control system design, including beam position monitoring, radio frequency, optical, and x-ray measurement techniques.
Comprehensive knowledge of radio-frequency techniques, high-speed data acquisition, analog and digital signal processing.
Comprehensive oral and written communication and presentation skills.
