Job Description
  Basic Purpose
  Under the direction of responsible engineers/scientists and Group Leader, uses CAD Solid Modeling techniques to develop concept design packages, which fulfill established design requirements. The work includes (but is not limited to) transforming conceptual designs into detail designs, development of complex assembly models, design layout drawings, symbol usage, drawing tolerance determination, methods of fabrication, and complex assembly drawings. Calculates geometric dimensioning and tolerancing and makes time and cost estimates for related fabrication drawings. Must be able to work with limited supervision and frequently leads the work of other design and drafting personnel. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
   
  Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  Comprehensive
Knowledge and skills in the preparation of design layouts, handbook calculations, and complete fabrication drawings for electromechanical equipment, equipment support structures, and piping and auxiliary support systems. Skills in the use of solid modeling CAD packages (Autodesk Inventor preferred). Ability to efficiently develop complex assemblies and models using advanced features of the CAD packages.
  Considerable
Proficiency in the use of Windows based PCs with firm understanding of file saving and directory structure. Knowledge of fabrication practices. Knowledge of drafting standards and practices. Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GDT) a plus. Knowledge of mechanical design methods.
  Other
A minimum of 15 years of continuous experience in the design of unique mechanical equipment with at least 5 of those years using AutoCAD Inventor , or Pro-E is required. Certification is desired. Ability to perform basic scoping calculations a plus.
