Job Description
  Basic Purpose
  The role is to develop scalable algorithms for stochastic and robust optimization with probabilistic constraints and supporting convergence theory. Develop software implementations to perform profiling and scalability tests of the algorithms in parallel computing clusters. The problems of interest arise in the design and real-time coordination of next-generation national infrastructure systems such as electrical and natural gas transmission networks and where uncertainties originate from rare events and spatio-temporal weather and demand fields.
   
  Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  Comprehensive
Comprehensive knowledge and background in numerical optimization and statistics.
  Considerable
Considerable knowledge of C/C++.
  Good
Good collaborative skills, including the ability to work well with scientists at other laboratories and universities. Good independent judgment, the ability to abstract from specific problems to general solutions. Good ability to provide project leadership and generate outside funding for research.
  Minimum Education/Experience Requirements
Candidate must have a Ph.D. in applied mathematics, computer science, or related discipline. Years since Ph.D; 0+ years of experience.
