Basic Purpose |
| |
Performs basic research in mathematics and computer science and participates in the conception and implementation of the division`s research programs. These programs focus on analytical and numerical methods and advanced scientific computing. |

Knowledge, Skills and Experience |
| |
Comprehensive Comprehensive knowledge of numerical techniques for time integration and the solution of ordinary and partial differential equations, such as multistep/multistage, implicit-explicit, and multirate methods.
|
| |
Considerable Considerable experience in numerical algorithms and software for large-scale scientific applications.
Considerable expertise in one or more of Fortran, C, and C++.
Considerable experience and skills in interdisciplinary research involving mathematicians, computer scientists, and discipline scientists.

Good Good collaborative skills, including the ability to work well with scientists at other laboratories and universities.
Good independent judgment, the ability to abstract from specific problems to general solutions.
Good experience with parallel programming algorithms and software with MPI.

Other Candidate must have a Ph.D. in applied mathematics, computer science, or related discipline.
