Basic Purpose |
| |
Design, modify, test, and maintain high-power RF amplifiers, power supplies, waveguide and coaxial RF transmission systems, and related electrical and electronic support equipment. Install, test and operate the APS-U SPX CW S-band RF systems. Provide engineering support to RF system operations for Linac, Par, Booster, Storage Ring, and SPX RF systems. Provide new engineering ideas to improve existing high-power RF systems and to enhance the design of SPX and future RF system hardware and systems. |

Knowledge, Skills and Experience |
| |
Considerable Considerable knowledge and experience on high-power RF system and component design, operation, and maintenance from 500 kHz to 10GHz and beyond. Considerable knowledge of coaxial and waveguide rf power transmission systems, ferrite circulators, klystrons, gridded vacuum tubes, rf power amplifiers, solid-state rf power amplifiers. Considerable knowledge of high-voltage power supplies to 100kV and 20 amperes output power, HVPS crowbar systems, polyphase thyristor phase angle controllers, and polyphase ac power distribution and control to15kV. Knowledge and experience operating CW RF system for superconducting RF cavities is a plus.
Considerable demonstrated knowledge of fundamental electrical engineering principles.

Good Good knowledge of traveling wave tube amplifier systems. Good knowledge of rf and microwave engineering theory and analysis in particle accelerator applications. Good knowledge and demonstration of effective oral and written communication skill. |

Minimum Education/Experience Requirements Bachelor's Degree and 8+ years work experience, or Master's Degree and 5+ years work experience, or Doctorate and 4+ years or their equivalents |
