Job Description
  Basic Purpose
  The incumbent will serve as deputy to the APS-U Associate Project Manager (APM) for Experimental Facilities. The Deputy will assist in the management, execution, and delivery of project objectives within the baseline constraints of technical scope, schedule and budget. The position will support the Advanced Photon Source Upgrade`s (APS-U) beamline activities especially during preparation for DOE reviews. The Deputy will help track progress against agreed scopes, milestones and deliverables of the Upgrade Project. This role will also serve as the APM when the APM for Experimental Facilities is unavailable.
  Knowledge, Skills and Experience
This position requires considerable experience in development of state-of-the-art synchrotron instrumentation and techniques. In addition, the position requires considerable experience in cost estimation, planning, and scheduling of significant projects, preferably related to synchrotron beamlines.
Some experience in project management the use of standard project planning software tools.
Minimum of 8 to 10 years of experience in the field of experimental facilities for synchrotron radiation. Practical experience in developing techniques and instrumentation. Experience working in collaboration with other US DOE Laboratories. Experience managing small groups of scientists, engineers, and technical support personnel is a plus. Experience working in synchrotron facilities is required.
