Job Description
  Basic Purpose
  Directs the operation of the nuclear facility infrastructure, nuclear operations deactivation program, and the nuclear, radiological, and waste management facilities. Ensure all facilities and programs are properly maintained and in compliance with regulations and management expectations. Directs the technical support for facilities in the areas of nuclear safety, criticality safety, safety management programs, decommissioning, radioactive and hazardous waste management, procedures and training. Communicates routinely with the DOE site office to assure the client is aware of regulatory issues, commitment status, and events.
  Knowledge, Skills and Experience
A comprehensive level of knowledge of DOE nuclear facility operations, nuclear safety and criticality safety, DOE Order 830, and nuclear safety management programs. A comprehensive level of knowledge of radioactive and hazardous waste management facility operations, RCRA, DOE Order 435.1 (Radioactive Waste Management) and applicable DOT requirements. Comprehensive judgment and analytical skills with ability to formulate effective plans and efficiently implement planned actions. Comprehensive ability in motivating employees and integrating technical activities. Comprehensive experience in people management.
Considerable skills in planning, decision-making, allocating work, defining job scope, directing, and organizing and controlling. Considerable skills in communicating and problem-solving.
Good knowledge required in financial management and accounting.
These levels of knowledge and skills would be achieved through a combination of education and working experience with emphasis on the operation, maintenance and associated engineering of nuclear facilities. Management skills would be acquired through increasing level of management experience in nuclear engineering and technology.
