Job Description
  Basic Purpose
  Firefighter / Paramedic will be required to respond to fire, rescue, hazardous material and emergency medical emergencies. Required to work under extremely stressful and sometimes dangerous conditions. Must be willing to follow orders and directions. Routine duties include Fire Alarm Office watches, inspections, maintenance of fire and related apparatus, cleaning of quarters, and class participation. Candidates may be required to complete written, oral, and/or psychological tests with satisfactory levels of achievement. Successful candidates will be required to pass a physical exam. Successful candidate may be required to begin working day shift hours for completion of Argonne Fire Department orientation and training.

Certified as Firefighter II by the State of Illinois. Licensed as paramedic by the Illinois Department of Public Health and accepted into Loyola EMS System. Must possess a valid driver`s license, preferably a class B. Must be 18 years old, in good physical condition, and able to pass medical examination requirements. Previous firefighting experience, training, and education in firefighting are necessary. Must be able to read, comprehend, and respond to written and verbal directives.
