Job Description
  Basic Purpose
  Candidate will analyze and visualize simulations of superconductivity at Argonne National Laboratory. Will work as part of a multidisciplinary research team involving physicists, computer scientists, and mathematicians to detect and track the temporal evolution of vortex dynamics in superconductors. Also, will collaborate with members of the SciDAC SDAV Institute and OSCon partnership to detect, track, and view features at scale from large amounts of data in situ and in postprocessing. Algorithms will leverage multi-core/GPU clusters and DOE Advanced Scientific Computing Research supercomputing facilities.
  Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Comprehensive knowledge in C/C++ programming under Unix/Linux. Comprehensive knowledge in data analysis and/or scientific visualization, including one or more of the following: topological analysis, feature detection, feature tracking, visualization of scalar and vector multivariate data. Comprehensive knowledge in software development for parallel computing.
Considerable experience in optics or signal processing research, and numerical optimization. Considerable presentation skills for describing complex numerical algorithms, and results with data. Comprehensive programming in Python.
Good collaborative skills, including the ability to work well with other laboratories and universities. Good self-motivation to solve problems and grow professionally. Good written and oral communication skills.
Candidate should have a Ph.D. in computer science, or related discpline. Enthusiasm for individual achievement within a team environment.
