Call for Commercialization Plans
Argonne National Laboratory is currently seeking one or more partners to commercialize its Virtual Community Platform (VCP) software. Argonne is requesting that all potential licensees submit a Commercialization Plan, to be received on or before November 15, 2013.
Argonne's Virtual Community Platform (VCP) is a web-based, virtual online collaboration tool built on Microsoft's powerful SharePoint© and Unified Communications Solution architectures, and commercial off-the-shelf applications, modified through “wizards” that are easy to use by federal departments or state, local or tribal agencies in collaboration, coordination and communication activities.
The virtual community you create using VCP is readily accessible through a range of web-connected devices; the user is not tied to one computer, and VCP does not require local software or administrator rights in order to launch it. This makes VCP a perfect home for the tools and information you need to successfully run your organization on a daily basis. You are freed to disseminate capabilities across organizations and jurisdictions, without getting caught up in configuration complexities.
The need to develop a secure community of trusted relationships is one of the most important aspects in the creation and operation of a collaborative endeavor. VCP provides the capability to attain the connected and informed community needed and to provide functionality for daily operations and communications, so participants will be able to communicate and collaborate in a logical and cohesive manner.
Argonne’s License Negotiating Team will select the most qualified licensees based on a submitted commercialization plan, detailed technology commercialization strategy, and how the submitted plan meets these general selection criteria:
- Exclusive or non-exclusive by specific application;
- Technology commercialization strategy (e.g., in-house, partnering with industry leaders, sublicensing, etc.);
- Business and marketing plan;
- Financial resources that will be dedicated to this commercialization project;
- Expertise relevant to this technology; and
- Management team/product champion.
Argonne’s goal is to select the companies that are most qualified and have the necessary experience and resources to successfully commercialize VCP. To begin the application process, complete the commercialization plan worksheet and return it as an e-mail attachment to Aaron Sauers at Argonne on or before November 15, 2013.
